After a lengthy illness, Wayne A. Cox, 55, of Elco, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. A son of the late Charles M. and Marguerite A. (Volosin) Cox, he was born July 17, 1958, in Charleroi. Wayne was a graduate of California High School and a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church. He was an avid bottle collector and was never known to pass up a good day of fishing. He also liked to tinker with anything electronic, even if it wasn't broken. Before his health declined, he always enjoyed going for rides on his Honda motorcycle with his loving wife, Janet. Wayne worked for 31 years as a heavy equipment operator for RLS Construction and Site Pro Construction and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers Association. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet (Gauden) Cox; two brothers, Gary Cox and fiancAC. Nancy Dyson and Kenneth Cox and wife Lorie; a sister, Marcy Cox; and a nephew, Christopher Cox. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, with Dennis Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Coal Center.
