Virginia Costa

d. March 29, 2011

Virginia C. Costa, of Carroll Township, formerly of Monessen and Dunlevy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Residence at the Hilltop. Born in Vanderbilt, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Margaret Pandolph Caputo. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Epiphany Ladies Guild, and the former St. Leonard Roman Catholic Church, all in Monessen. When she was a volunteer in St. Leonard's cafeteria, the students would look forward to Friday's when she would make her infamous pizza and during Lent when she would make Easter bread. Virginia enjoyed cooking, playing the lottery, and going to McDonalds and La Eda's Restaurant. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Emilene Bellone Martinak and husband, Charles, of Perryopolis, and Patty Regal and husband, Ronald, of Sayre, Pa.; four grandchildren, Charles Martinak III and wife, Janet, Deborah Sauritch and husband, Brian, Michele Bair and husband, Gene, and Trina Curcio and husband, Chris; three great-grandchildren, Robbie Novakovich, Gene Michael Bair and Emi Curcio; two sisters-in-law, Rose Huweart and Theresa Kirk; very close and dear niece and nephews, Tommy and Rosemarie Nobili and Jim Bieniek; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Camer J. Costa, who passed away Sept. 8, 2010; a daughter, Donna Spadafore, who passed away Sept. 5, 1975; and four sisters, Theresa Perry, Christine Kostelnik, Mary Bieniek-Rush and Lucy Peskie. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc, 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church with the Rev David Nazimek officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
