Vernon L. Young, 65, of Dunlevy, formerly of Long Branch, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, in Southwestern Nursing Center. Born in Stockdale on May 22, 1945, he was the son of the late John and Mary Abbott Young. He was raised and lived in Long Branch for 62 years and, before his retirement, worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and owned a small-engine repair business. Mr. Young was a wonderful role-model for his children and those who were a part of his life. He always followed the path of righteousness, put his family and friends before himself, and accepted everyone as they were. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Feick Young; a daughter, Heather Sexauer and her husband Marc, of Pittsburgh; a son, Vernon L. Young, Jr. of Long Branch; a grandson, Cash Sexauer; brothers, Theodore Young and wife Genevieve, James Young and wife Teresa, Paul Young and wife Jodie, and Dennis Young and wife Vicki; sisters, Janice Maloy and husband John, Linda Paulsey, and Mary Brumley; an aunt, Viola Lecat; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Young, and brothers-in-law, Donald Brumley and Benjamin Paulsey. Friends will be received Sunday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
