Ruth L. Kubin

Ruth Louise Kubin, 89, a resident at the Bentleyville Personal Care Home, formerly of Charleroi, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 29, 2008. She was born September 3, 1918, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Paul K. Sr. and Frances Fickenscher Hazen. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Charleroi where she served as organist for many years. In her younger years, she was employed as a typesetter by the former Charleroi Mail newspaper and later married Michael Kubin, who passed away August 1, 2006, after 66 years of marriage. As a homemaker, she enjoyed baking and knitting. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Frances Hazen, of Bentleyville, and Margaret Bahurinsky, of Meadville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul K. Hazen Jr. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 1, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Northey of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Charleroi Cemetery.
