Robert R. Quigley, Sr., 81, passed away, Tuesday March 6, 2013. A son of the late Raul and Minnie Hoak Quigley, he was born June 25, 1931, in Brownsville. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. After 36 years, Mr. Quigley retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, where he worked as a mechanic and truck driver. He was a member of the California American Legion, Post 377, and an avid hunter and member of the Roscoe Sportsmen's Association. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the birds outside of his house. Left to carry on his many memories are his wife; Mildred of 62 years; their children, George R. Quigley and wife, Amy, of Forward Township, Robert R. Quigley Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Charleroi, Laura Ann Gillon and husband, Jake, of North Charleroi, Howard T. Quigley and wife, Tami, of Donora, Judy L. Davin and partner, Helen Bittinger, of Charleroi, and Timothy L. Quigley and wife, Diann, of Roscoe; grandchildren, Lyndsay Bolin, Gina Quigley, Robert Quigley III, George Quigley, Jason Russo, Mandy Russo, Jessica Russo, Jacob Gillon, Miranda Gillon, Howard Quigley Jr., Darleen Quigley, Katrina Berish, Edward Quigley, Daina Davin, Thomas Davin III, Waylon Davin, Melissa Brandimarti and Derek Quigley; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Colon Quigley; caregiver, Darlene Boyle; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Quigley was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Ted, Bill and Jesse Quigley. Friends will be received on 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 11, in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, with Rev. Candace Cook presiding. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. American Legion services will be provided by Post No. 801 at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
