Robert David Houston, 91, of Elco, died peacefully with his loving family around him on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 in the Hallsworth House, Monessen. Born and raised in Charleroi to the late Sarah Johns Houston and Alexander Houston, he was a graduate of Charleroi High School and served in the U.S. Army as corporal in the 254th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division as an anti-tank gunner in World War II. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen Legeza Houston, who died Sept. 28, 2014; ;and a sister, Marie Maul of Detroit, Mich. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cheryl, and Ken Boda of North Charleroi; son, Robert, and Janet Houston of Roscoe; and five grandchildren, Lori Boda Trinder and husband, Brian, of Charleroi, Ken Boda and wife, Kathleen, of Roscoe, Kevin Boda and wife, Nicole, of Virginia Beach, Va., Kelly Houston and fiance, Levi Palfrey, of Elco, and Bobby Houston and fiancee, Deanna Karpiak, of Brookline; and great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brian Trinder; Brody and Tucker Boda, Kylee Berkich and Zackary Tokar, Madaline, Makyla and Bode Boda. Robert is also survived by a sister, Sara Jean Wright of Atlanta, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to a wonderful neighbor, Julia Brudnik, for her help, support and friendship to our parents. Mr. Houston was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Roscoe, and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel after 38 years of employment. Upon his retirement, he was an avid golfer and bowler in the REAP League and enjoyed traveling with his wife as members of the Galavanters Club. Friends are welcome Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A Blessing Service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Fr. James Young officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
