Robert S. Ehko

 
A private visitation and funeral services where held Monday March 14, 2022 for Robert S. Ehko 98 of Fallowfield Twp.,who died on Thursday March 10, 2022 at Penn Highland Mon Valley Hospital. Born in Charleroi on October 18, 1923, a son of the late Andrew and Ada Saccani Ehko.
 
Robert was a US Navy veteran of WWII, who had served in the Pacific as a pilot and then on a carrier. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport and in his later years worked as a security guard for Gregg Security. Robert was a member of the Lion's Club. He loved fishing, hunting, sports and gardening. He enjoyed dancing, going to country western concerts with his wife, and spending time with his family. Always one to give good advice and lend a hand when needed. A member of Christ Lutheran Church in Charleroi, he always volunteered to be an usher.
 
Robert is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Arlene Rhodes Ehko, 2 daughters; Kim ( Dennis) Nagy, and Karen Ehko, son Stephen Ehko, a sister Olive Pulaski, 2 sister-in-law Gerri Ehko and Laura Lee Pascoe and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers; Edward and Fred, a sister Janet McGowan, sister-in-law Stashia Ehko, and brothers-in-law; William Pulaski, Willis McGowan and Robert Rhodes. He will be greatly missed by his family.
 
Interment was at Mon Valley Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Guard. Memorials in Robert's memory may be made to the Lion's Club or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.

Karen, sorry for your loss. That generation witnessed a vast change in American history. They were raised through the great depression survived WWII and so many changes in industry, culture, and politics. Plus they survived raising us which wasn't easy. My mom is still alive as is her sister both in their 90's.
