Philip M. DiFilippo

Philip M. DiFilippo, 67, of Fallowfield Township, died peacefully Monday, April 6, 2015, in his home. Born in North Charleroi on Oct. 17, 1947, he was a son of Philip J. and Margaret Sabol DiFilippo. Mr. DiFilippo was retired as a caseworker of the Department of Public Welfare. A Vietnam War veteran having served in the U.S. Navy, he was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, the Charleroi American Legion Post No. 22 and a previous member of the Mon Valley Shipmates. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Novicki DiFilippo; a daughter, Lisa DiFilippo and her husband, Oscar Pellicier, of New York City; a son, Philip S. DiFilippo of Fallowfield Township; a grandson, Oskar Pellicier; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Karen DiFilippo of Norfolk, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Andrew Popelas of Roscoe; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James DiFilippo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, in the MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with the Rev. Gerald Mikonis officiating. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 301 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219; or Washington County Humane Society 1527 PA-136, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
