Mildred "Millie" Whetsel Sharrer, 85, of Roscoe, went to be with her loved ones on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Born August 22, 1926, in Allison, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Fannie Harford Whetsel. Millie was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church and the Janet Ray Circle. She worked as a cashier in retail sales until her retirement, and enjoyed baking, playing bingo and planting flowers. Left to cherish her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Virginia Sharrer, of California; her grandchildren, Kristi Lowden and husband, David, Adam Sharrer and wife, Becky, and Ashley Mislo and husband, Andrew; a precious great-grandson, Jackson Lewis Lowden; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, who passed away on April 14, 1989; brothers, Harold, Wilbur, Charles and Carl Whetsel; and sisters, Elma Whetsel Wiggins, Ethel Whetzel Dearth and Violet Whetsel Perkins. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 23, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Candace Cook presiding. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. The family would like to thank the staff of the Golden Living Center in McMurray and Southern Care Hospice for all their smiles and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
