Martha Yaros

d. September 23, 2008

Martha Yaros, of Scott Township, formerly of Carroll Township, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, just over two months after celebrating her 96th birthday with family and friends on July 18, 2008. She was born in Ford City in 1912 to Max and Anna Petronchek, one of seven children. Her brothers and sisters all preceded her in death. Martha was a graduate of Sewickley Valley Hospital and proud to tell everyone, even as late as the day of her death, that she was a graduate registered nurse. She was the beloved wife of Peter Yaros, to whom she was married for 45 years before his death in 1986. They resided on Wickerham Drive in Monongahela, where Martha continued to live until December 2005 when she moved into an apartment at Vanadium Woods Village. Martha is survived by her children, Peter S. Yaros and wife Donna, of Chambersburg, and Dr. John G. Yaros and wife Ann, of Scott Township. She was the beloved Baba of Tonya (Yaros) Belczyk and husband Joshua, of Toledo, Ohio, Captain John Yaros, of Fairmont, W.Va., Andrew Yaros, who presently resides in South Korea, and Michael Yaros, of Carroll Township. She was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Charleroi until she moved to Scott Township to be closer to her family and where she joined Holy Virgin Orthodox Church in Carnegie. Martha lived every day to its fullest, and her church and church music brought her great pleasure. Visitation will be at the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi (724-483-2231) on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., where a Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation at Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church in Carnegie will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. in Holy Virgin Orthodox Church. THERE WILL BE NO FUNERAL PROCESSION TO THE CEMETERY. Interment will be in Charleroi Cemetery.
