Katherine "Kay" Shylock

Katherine "Kay" Shylock 99 of Stockdale died Sunday October 3, 2016 at her home. Born in Donora on June 6, 1917 a daughter of William and Sophia Berochak Manos. She was Greek Orthodox by faith. Kay was a beautician for 30 years in Washington DC. She and her husband were also owners and operators of Rip & Kay's Wheeler Restaurant for 15 years in Washington DC. During those years they became one of Budweiser's leading beer accounts and were nationally recognized for it. Once they moved back to the Mon Valley Kay and her husband opened Rip & Kay's Bits and Pizzas in Stockdale, which was in operation for many years. Kay was married to John S. 'Rip" Shylock from 1940 until his death on November 23, 2005. She is survived by a son William "Ripley" Shylock and his life partner Dottie Keetch of Denton, TX. Besides her husband she is preceded in death by a son Nicholas Shylock. Visitation will be held on Saturday October 8, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe where Trisagion Services will be held on Saturday at 6:00pm with Rev. Joseph Cervo. Burial will be private.
