Joice E. Gillon 82 of Coal Center passed away at her home surround by her family on Tuesday July 18, 2023. She was born in Charleroi on April 29, 1941, the daughter of Curtis and Bertha Abbott Mitchell.
Joice was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church. She was very involved with crafts, loved watching the Steeler games and was an avid sports fan. For several years Joice made wreaths for the Roscoe American Legion's Memorial Day services. She loved and spoiled her dogs and cats and enjoyed the company of her loving family.
For 65 years she was married to the love of her life, John "Jack" Gillon. Besides her husband, Joice is also survived by her daughters; Diann (Timothy) Quigley of Coal Center and Sandy (Bud) Davis of Bluff City, TN, daughter-in-law Laura Gillon of McConnellsburg, grandchildren Melissa Brandimarti and Derek Quigley that never left her side plus an additional 7 other grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her brother Edgar (Suzanne) Mitchell of West Newton.
Joice was preceded in death by her son Jack "Jake" Gillon in 2017, 4 sisters; her twin sister Janice McMillen, Arlene Jones, Eleanor Mitchell and Bertha Mae Mitchelle and 2 brothers; Johnny and Franklin Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 21 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe where funeral services will be held on Saturday July 22 at 10am with Rev. Candace Cook presiding. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park Carroll Twp.
