John "Buckeye" Bilsky

John Richard "Buckeye" Bilsky, of Roscoe, formerly of Arnold City, was called home to the Lord on April 5, 2010 with his loving family at his side. He was born September 12, 1940 in North Charleroi, a son of the late John Richard and Wanda Kosevsky Bilsky. A retired steelworker, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Roscoe American Legion Post 801, and a faithful member and Ordained Teacher of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Roscoe. He loved reading and studying the scriptures and was always quick to give his testimony of God's goodness toward him and his family. He loved being with his family and going to all of his grandchildren's school activities. He also enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in his work. Surviving is his high school sweetheart, Bertha Jean Ward Bilsky whom he married on August 12, 1964; two daughters, Kellie Lynn Speck and husband Jim of Plum; Dana Marie Thompson and husband Brett of Roscoe; one son; John Richard Bilsky III and wife Erin of Plum; three grandchildren; Jenna Marie Thompson, Jessa Lyn Thompson and John Aaron (Jack) Bilsky. Also surviving one sister, Loretta Bilsky and one brother Dennis Bilsky and wife Carol all of Belle Vernon; one nephew David Bilsky and wife Jill of Owen Creek, Arizona; one niece, Karen Avolio and husband John of Lawrence, Pa. Friends will be received Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, with American Legion Post 801 conducting a service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 9, in the Church of Jesus Christ, Roscoe. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Coal Center.
