Helen M. Brna

Helen M. Brna 99 of Roscoe, passed away with her family by her side Friday February 10, 2017 at her home. Born March 8, 1917 in Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bujnovsky Klembara. Helen was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish (formally St. Joseph’s) in Roscoe. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild, where she served as a past President, a member & board member of the Charleroi Golden Agers. She enjoyed playing Bingo at St. Joseph’s, bowling at Lynnwood Lanes, and working the polls during election time while she was a member of the election board in Roscoe. She also spent time working at the Allenport Food Bank helping those who were less fortunate. Helen married Joseph Brna on June 9, 1937. They were married for 38 years until his passing in 1975.

Helen is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Judy) Brna of Denver, CO., Paul (Linda) Brna of Bend OR., and Gerald Brna of Roscoe, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara (Ronald) Croushore of Belle Vernon, Elaine (Barry) Erdely of Perryopolis. 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Brna and was the last surviving member of the Klembara family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 15 at 10:00 am at St. Katharine Drexel Roscoe Campus with Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery Coal Center. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to any food bank or the Mount Assisi Convent 934 Forest Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15202-1199.
