Gizella 'Kay' Savage

Gizella Elizabeth 'Kay' Savage, 84, of Roscoe, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 10, 2009. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Pricedale (Rostraver Township), a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Halaz) Demeter. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild of St. Joseph's, and the Third Order of St. Francis of the Guild. She enjoyed baking and was known for her kindness and gentle spirit. Kay always offered encouragement and enjoyed being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her faith was the cornerstone of her family. Survivors include 11 children: Thomas A. Savage, Donna Kuch, Mary Ann Lutz (George), Christine Crawford (Glenn), Theresa Evans, Rose Livingstone (Greg), Joseph Savage (Reva), David Savage (Lisa), Victor Savage, Michael Savage (Samantha), and James Savage (Tammy); 32 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Bernard, Jim and David Demeter; and one sister, Rosemarie Gbrudski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas 'Bo' Savage; a daughter, Regina Savage; a granddaughter, Coeli Regina Savage; two sisters; Ellen Fotheringham and Julia Ponzini; and a brother, Joe Demeter. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES and CREMATION SERVICE INC., Roscoe (724-938-9323), where the Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Monday. A blessing service will be held Tuesday, April 14, in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Roscoe. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
