Ethel M. Amalong

Ethel Furnier Amalong, 87, of Daisytown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012. Born in Roscoe on Feb. 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Kennedy Furnier. Mrs. Amalong retired as a lab technician from the former Corning Glass in Charleroi after 33 years of employment. She is survived by two sons, John Bertovich, of Daisytown, and Josh Amalong and wife, Amanda, of Bessemer, Pa.; three grandsons, Seneca Bertovich, of Novato, Calif., Andrew Bertovich, of Boise, Idaho, and Tony Encapera and wife, Dana, of Perryopolis; a great-granddaughter, Sage Encapera; and a sister, Joanne Talucci of Syracuse, N.Y. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wendell J. Amalong, on March 1, 2003; two sons, Mark and Anthony Bertovich; a brother, Daniel Furnier; and a sister, Betty Kronander. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
