Elizabeth 'Betty' Williams, 102, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Washington, Pa., passed peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008. She was born Feb. 4, 1906, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Gaul. Elizabeth lived her adult life in Washington until she moved to Venice in 1995 to live with her daughter. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former employee of the City Building, both in Washington. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores 'Dee' Haines McLaughlin and husband Harry, of Venice; two grandchildren: Kathleen Johnston and William Haines and wife Sharon; three great-grandchildren: Brian and Kelly Haines and Jason Johnson; three step grandchildren: Mary Jo Eland, Robert McLaughlin and Dawn Wilson; four step great-grandchildren: Kristine Ziegler, Keri Walters, and Tara and Melissa Curtis; one great-great-grandson: Colin Haines: two step great-great-grandchildren: Madison Ziegler and Elijah Walters; and one niece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Williams, in 1983; two sisters, Mary Cook and Anna McKenna; and three brothers: Martin and John Estoker and Steve Gaul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, West Chestnut Street, Washington, Pa., on Monday, Sept 8, at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, sympathy contributions may be made to: The Pines of Sarasota, 1501 North Orange Ave., Sarasota, Fla. 34236-2631. Arrangements are being handled by the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe (724-938-9323).
