Carrie L. Masten

After a brief illness, Carrie L. Masten, 93, of Roscoe, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, in Havencrest Nursing Center. A daughter of the late Emmett and Sarah Werton Mankin, she was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, on April 11, 1918. She was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary. Mrs. Masten worked at Montgomery Wards in Charleroi for nearly 10 years and as a bartender at the Roscoe Slovak Club and for over 20 years sold Sarah Coventry jewelry. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Linda Mudry, of Stockdale; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Masten, of North Huntington; seven grandchildren, Matt Mudry and wife Christy, Paul Mudry and wife Susan, Calvin, Cody, Olivia and Noah Masten, and Paul B. Masten and wife JoAnn; eight great-grandchildren, Celeste, Blake, Bryce and Ecko Mudry and Michael, Brendon, Mackenzie and Cameron Masten; two sisters, Mary Trussa, of Charleroi, and Martha Miller, of Bristol, PA; her cat Pumpkin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Masten in 1967, a son, Paul B. Masten in 2000, two brothers Emmett and Werton Mankin, and a son-in-law, Paul Mudry in 1997. Friends will be received on Monday, May 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Candace Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 716, Roscoe, PA 15477.
