Burnell "Bud" Gency

Burnell "Bud" A. Gency 90 of Fallowfield Twp., passed away Wednesday September 14, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born in Nemacolin on September 16, 1931, a son of Stephen and Mary Sloboda Gency.

Bud was retired from Charleroi Paint & Glass after working for 20 years as a glass cutter. After retiring he became the #1 assistant for Mon Valley Key Services. Bud was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Gospel Alliance Church in Rostraver, the Charleroi American Legion Post #22 and the Mon Valley Leather Necks.

Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Ellen Cratty Gency, 6 children; Pamela Gency of Fallowfield Twp., Stephen Gency of Carroll Twp., Keith (Beverly) Whitlatch of Scottdale, Linda Zuccarini of Belle Vernon, Deborah (John) Forsythe of Belle Vernon and Bruce Whitlatch of Deemston Boro, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren, a nephew Gordon Gency, sister-in-law Nancy Gency and his best buddy Ryan Redman.

Bud is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Irene Gency, granddaughters; Rachel Behers and Sheri McCauley, grandson Michael Justin Luzzi and brother Gordon Gency.

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 17 from 1-3pm and 5-6:30pm at Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi where funeral services will begin at 6:30 with Rev. Brad Sickler.
