Betty Valovich

Betty Michener Valovich, daughter of the late Don and Clara Eckert Michener, died Jan. 15, 2010, in the Specialized Acute Care Facility of UPMC McKeesport while recovering from surgery resulting from a fall in her home. She was born on April 14, 1922, in Charleroi. Her sons and daughters-in-law, Navy Captain retired Paul Valovich and wife Patricia of Ridgecrest, CA, and Marine Lt. Colonel retired John Valovich and wife Harriet of Mission Viejo, CA, will always cherish the love, compassion, confidence and sense of fairness, respect, and honor she personified. Betty is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew and Eric Valovich, Ann Lusher and husband Robert, and Erin Robles; five great-grandsons, Noah and Jacob Robles and Lucas, Jacob and Robby Lusher; and a very dear friend of 83 years, Eleanor Mazie Carson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Donald E. Michener. Betty was the last of her immediate family. She was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, where she previously served as Deacon and was also a member the Janet Rae Circle and the Roscoe American Legion Auxiliary. Per Betty's request, there will be no public viewing and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. Memorial donations should be made to Washington County Mental Retardation Services.
