Betty J. Michael

Betty Jean Michael, 79, of Roscoe, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 28, 2008. She was born April 7, 1929, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late John C. and Ruth Drinkwater Wood. She was Catholic by faith and a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, having worked for 30 years as a Bell Telephone operator in the Charleroi area. She also was a lover of all animals. Survivors include one brother, John "Bo" Wood, of Fallowfield Township; a special niece, Judy McCurry, of Carroll Township; and many other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Michael, on December 17, 2002; and two brothers, Donald H. Wood and Fred Wood. Friends will be received in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe, on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by interment in Howe Cemetery, Coal Center.
