Anna Mae Pirt

Anna Mae Pirt, 91, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. She was born in Whitehall, on Nov. 17, 1921, the youngest of John and Julia Keder Check's seven children. Anna Mae was a licensed beautician who practiced in Roscoe, worked as a caregiver for the elderly and worked for Union Cleaners for many years. She is particularly remembered for her boundless energy and her outgoing and generous nature. Family was everything to "Aunt Ann" and she always placed others before herself, deriving her greatest happiness from what she did for others. She will be sorely missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families, whom she gifted with the beautiful and cherished masterpieces she crocheted and knitted. She was the last of her immediate family, preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Pirt; and her siblings, Julia Lambert, Susan Pordash, Helen Hammercheck, Elizabeth Spisak, John Check and Andy Check. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon, the hour of service, on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe. Interment will follow in Charleroi Cemetery.
