Anna Mae Davis

Anna Mae Davis 95, of Charleroi, died Tuesday January 12, 2016 at Manor Care Peter's Twp. Born in Charleroi on May 11, 1920 a daughter of Charles and Mary Nelson. She was a lifelong resident of Charleroi and a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church, Charleroi. Anna was one of the first women hired by the United States Postal Service in Pittsburgh. At the time of her retiring from the Postal Service, she was the Women's Coordinator. Anna loved to play hymns on her organ and she read her bible twice a day. She traveled to Israel, Egypt, South America, Mexico and throughout the U.S. She enjoyed baking, gardening and grew the most beautiful roses. She is survived by two sons James Davis Sr. and partner Elaine Brandon of Middletown, NY, and Melvin and wife Edna Davis of Damascus, PA, a daughter-in-law Rose Davis of Charleroi, a twin sister Audrey Steward of Charleroi, a sister-in-law Larell (Nelson) Owens of Clairton, 7 grandchildren Andrea Mayfield, Valene Davis and James DavisJr. all of FL, Alicia Davis and Jacqueline Davis of Charleroi, a step-grandson Barney Stephens III, of Charleroi, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband James Roy Davis, a son John Robert Davis, 5 brothers Clarence, Charles Jr., Robert, William and Cornelius Nelson, and a brother-in-law Theodore Steward. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 14, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 825 Fallwofield Ave., Charleroi where funeral services will be held on Friday January 15 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Charleroi Cemetery. The family suggest in lieu of flowers that memorial be made to the Full Gospel Fellowship Church 10th and Upper Crest Ave., Charleroi.
