Thomas R. Hartman, 83, of Stockdale, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born July 21, 1935, in Stockdale, a son of Thomas Hartman and Anne Hartman Garrett. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant. Thomas was a member of St. Sebastian Church, Belle Vernon, a social member of the Roscoe American Legion, the Slovak Club, Roscoe, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Joseph’s Church in Roscoe. Thomas loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events, enjoyed spending his time with family and friends and loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” McCurry Hartman; two sons, Thomas J. (Toni) Hartman of Fayette City, Michael D. (Dianna) Hartman of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter Mary Beth Steban of Smithton; seven grandchildren, Michael, Cody and Emily Hartman, all of Phoenix, Jacob, Jesse, Jordan “JJ”, and Jared Hartman, all of Fayette City; and three brothers, Tim Garrett of Stockdale, Terry Garrett of Tupelo, Miss., and Mark Garrett of Roscoe. Thomas was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Daniel Steban Jr., on March 18, 2018.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 4, 2018, at St. Sebastian Church, Belle Vernon. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
