NOTICE:  The Pennsylvania Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries is increasing the price of death certificates.  Beginning August 21, 2018, the cost per death certificate will be increased from $6.00 to $20.00 per certified copy of death certificate.  If you feel you need more copies and the decedent's date of death was within the last 90 days, give us a call before August 21, 2018.  If the decedent's death is longer than 90 days, you must obtain death certificates through the PA Department of Vital Records by mail, visiting one of the office locations, or by visiting www.vitalchek.com.  Death certificates obtained through the PA Department of Vital Records cost $20.00 each.

George "Jerry" Watson Jr. 78 of Roscoe, died Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Walnut Ridge Memory Care in Greensburg. Born in Charleroi on August 29, 1940, a son of George and Florence Brewer Watson Sr.. Jerry was retired after 44 yrs of employment from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport. He was an US Army veteran serving in Korea during peacetime. Jerry was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church Roscoe. He was a member for 62yrs of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Dept., Roscoe American Legion Post #801, the Allenport Rod & Gun Club, and the Roscoe Slovak Club. On January 10, 1966 he married Barbara Schaming. They just celebrated 53yrs of marriage.

Besides his wife Barbara Watson, he is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law George and Erin Watson III of Frostburg, MD, a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Peter Somma of Canonsburg, 5 grandchildren; Cameron, Caitlyn, George IV, Timothy and Matthew, and 3 sisters; Dolores Colditz  and husband Charles of Allenport, Patty Klien of Stockdale and Judy Davis of Richeyville, also sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marie and Ottie Caruso of Charleroi  and Charles and Verene Schaming of Belle Vernon. Preceded in death by 3 sisters; Dora Lee Jones, Barbara Gregg and Loraine Ferrier.

Visitation will be held on Sunday January 27, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe where a funeral blessing will be held at 10:30am on Monday January 28 with Rev. James Bump presiding. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Dept. will have services in the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30pm followed by the Roscoe American Legion Post#801 at 7:00pm.
